From Holland to Catalonia

Posted on Abr 13, 2016 by in Dream Weddings | 0 comments

This week it was my turn to be the birthday girl, and man did we celebrate! You don’t turn 40 everyday… Once more I’d like to thank you all here for all the messages and phone calls! It’s been so wonderful I’m still so moved… THANK YOU!!!

Today I invite you to a wedding, which despite the weather setbacks was very special. Today’s wedding is one of those that crosses borders (given that the couple live in Denmark), Hilde and Alex’s wedding was a Dutch-Catalan celebration! Everyone knows that I’m a big fan of cultural mixes, probably because of family influence! 😉 So here’s to the mix!

This wedding took place a few summers ago, but we remember it perfectly, especially because the weather made us suffer until the end. The forecast called for screaming, (I scream in private to release tension), but once again… the bad weather became an ally and this wedding shined bright as it could shine and since they say… in bad weather, take good cover! (Our make-up artist friend Rebeca told us this one day… and I loved it! She was right on).

The rainy atmosphere created a special magic and incredible light. The ceremony took place in la Era, covered. The bride’s entrance was spectacular. The bride’s brother came in playing the saxophone, her father as well as her brother played a song during the ceremony. The couple chose a romantic bed as the presidential bench which we surrounded with flowers, decorative Dutch elements and special memories for the bride.

It was a fun party with a lot of nods to both cultures. Massimo took his inspiration from the typical Dutch tiles to create the wedding’s image, and blue, white and red tones wove everything together. The bride took care of finding a distributer in Holland to create the tiles with the designs and important phrases for the couple. We made an Indispensable Vocabulary corner, full of practical phrases for a special celebration, ideal for the most shy to encourage people with both languages. There were no excuses not to utter a few words in Dutch or Spanish!

The tables of the banquet room were presided by tiles with table numbers on them, which were framed with recycled wood from our home (they were old window frames) and we painted them blue to give them one final touch.

The wedding ended with the Zapping Trio making everyone dance without stopping for breath!
